Yinbot was one of the primary bots of the WIDEVERSE Discords. Originally a fork of BroBot, YinBot was completely rewritten in 2018 by Rej, then later maintained by Orkle.

History

BroBot and Fork

In the early days of Discord, bots were just user accounts with a client side script being ran. BMW's early attempts at bots had been lackluster, and Taylor felt something more cohesive and personal was needed. He chose to borrow the source code of Serious Overchills bot, BroBot, and built his own on top of it, launching the first version of what would becoming YinBot on October 17th 2017.

Rewrites

In early 2018 though, it became clear Taylor had no idea what he was doing. He brought in Rej to rebuild the bot from the ground up. After Rej left in Summer of 2018 though, Orkle took over as the primary architect.

Decommissioning

Along with most his other projects, YinBot was shut down in early 2023 and when SIDEBOYS was merged into BEEFY BOYS in 2024, it was decided to not even move YinBot over.
